Echoic Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Account information: username, nickname, email address, and password (stored only as an encrypted hash; no one can view the original password);
Preferences: interface language and target translation language;
Usage data: login times, standalone translation duration and language direction (for quota calculation and statistics), and time-balance transaction records;
IP addresses used during registration and login (used only for anti-abuse rate limiting).

2. How Audio and Translation Content Are Processed (Important)

When you use voice chat or standalone translation, audio from your microphone or system is transmitted to our servers in real time and forwarded to professional third-party artificial intelligence services for speech recognition and translation:

Audio is used only for real-time recognition and translation. Our servers do not store any audio data;
Subtitle text generated by recognition and translation is stored only on your own device (locally); our servers do not retain subtitle content;
Private text messages are temporarily stored on the server to enable offline delivery and are cleared according to the product’s operating logic after receipt;
Third-party AI services process data under their own privacy policies. We select only compliant providers that make data protection commitments.

3. Third-Party Services We Use

Artificial intelligence cloud services: speech recognition and machine translation (audio and text are processed by their models in real time and are not used to train their models);
Email services: sending verification emails for registration and password resets.

Except for the services listed above and disclosures required by law or regulation, we do not sell or share your personal information with any third party.

4. Data Security

All communication between the client and servers is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS / WSS). Passwords are stored using the industry-standard one-way hashing algorithm bcrypt. Database access is restricted to the servers’ internal network.

5. Data Retention and Account Deletion

Account data is retained while you use the service. To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us using the information in Section 7. After verifying your identity, we will delete your account information. Time-consumption records required for reconciliation will be retained in de-identified form for the necessary period.

6. Minors

If you are under 14 years old, use the Software only with the supervision and consent of your legal guardian.
